The left-bank boulevard of the Vistula River in Warsaw, from Powiśle to Podzamcze - a competition project, awarded a special distinction.
The most serious challenge is to activate the boulevards as public spaces, creating a nucleus for urban life along the Vistula. We see an opportunity in the character of the capital, whose residents, flowing into Warsaw like a river, will eagerly transfer their urban activities to new, hitherto undeveloped areas. Therefore, focal points have been created as places of connection between the boulevard space and urban space, as well as the main activity areas on the boulevard.
Between the planned focal points (squares), green walking spaces stretch. Residents walk from square to square, from attraction to attraction, which motivates them to explore the boulevards. Cultural life of the city is concentrated around the squares, while the walking areas serve as recreational space.
As part of public investments along the boulevards, infrastructure connections, pavements, and elements of small architecture with a minimal number of volumetric objects are planned. Temporary facilities, river barges, etc., funded by private money, will be connected to this "base" of the boulevards. Due to budgetary reasons, any interventions in the existing form of the quaysides have been limited to a minimum, only enriching the existing context with green elements and small architecture.
