Client: the City of Hel
Organiser: Lessner Consulting
Design: 2007
Net area: Coastline Boulevard in Hel
The project for a coastline boulevard in Hel was prepared for a competition held by the Mayor of Hel. The project concept includes arrangement of the public areas of the coastline boulevard. The boulevard runs from the war harbour via areas adjacent to the Ocean Studies Department of the University of Gdańsk, a public square, a yacht marine, a fishing harbour, through to the end of the Hel peninsula.
The Grupa 5 project suggests that the area of the old harbour be designated to tourist use.
We suggest low level buildings which harmonise with the historic buildings of the Town of Hel in terms of scale, materials and character. The spaces are designed for modern day leisure, recreational and commercial purposes such as coffee shops, galleries, guest houses and spa complexes, beauticians and shops. The public space will be conducive to ecological education, and in the future it will also be linked with other developments envisaged in Hel such as the Blue Village and the Memorial of the Defenders of Hel as well as the aquarium.
