The revitalization design of the Piastowski Brewery in Wrocław comprises a master plan for a strict conservation area scenically located on the Odra canal. The site is unique and historically highly valuable, one of only 2 such intact brewery complexes in Wroclaw and few in Poland.
The brewery had been functioning continuosly for almost 2 centuries until 2007 when the well known Piast beer was brewed there, named after the first royal dynasty of Poland from the 10th century
Some 700 flats were designed within the complex, including a modernization design of three large historical buildings – the main Brewery building, the “bottling building”, and the stables, which were turned into high standard lofts. On the remaining site 5 new residential buildings, including 5, 8 and one 18-storey buildings, two office blocks and a small shopping gallery were planned
One of the tasks of the designers was to bring about the enactment of a local plan for the area based on their own urban-architectural concept.
Our aim was to create high quality urban space in the city centre.
